Raise up your flags, Malaysians

As the clock struck 12, I hear fireworks cracking as I blissfully enjoy my last day of holiday. As unpatriotic I may be, I think it should still be etched in my mind that it has been 52 years since our country gain independence. An important day to remind me that I'm able to live in such a peaceful and beautiful country for almost 20 years. And after reading another splendid book by Khaled Hosseini, 'A Thousand Splendid Suns', I have came to realize that I'm truly lucky to be in Malaysia, a country where I can sleep on with the sounds of firecrackers instead of gunshots.

HAPPY
INDEPENDENCE DAY, MALAYSIA :)

Because I'm an honest person?

Some people would regard me as a doink. A better word to replace stupid. I feel ouch to call myself that or I'm too vain to admit I'm one. Anyway, I would prefer it if people look as me as an honest person. Yeah, that would be much better.

I went to KLCC again yesterday for their book fest for the second time with May Kay and we were queuing up for the entrance ticket. So I was waiting for my turn while May Kay stand to wait at the back. When the people in front of me left, the girl at the ticket counter gestured me to come forward. She was staring at me with those weird look and said something and I realized she was actually talking to me and since she was speaking Mandarin, I was a little slower at picking up what she said. After awhile, I managed to figure out what she was saying.

me : I want two tickets please

counter girl : If you're below 18 then you don't need to pay

me : Huh? ( i cant hear her well this part 'cuz its kinda a long sentence you see and I wasn't expecting anymore than a 'Thank You' from her)

counter girl : repeated what she said (I think she kinda figured that I can't get her)

Me : Oh, we're both above age already.

counter girl : oh ok. rm4 please.

Sweat. I just realised I could have cheated the counter gal since she was convinced that I look below 18. And not doink enough, I told MK what happened. She too gave me a sweat look, 'U should not have told her ma !' making me even guiltier. I was like 'Only RM2 wert'. But if only I'm not that honest to admit that I'm above age to the counter girl, I would have saved the 2 bucks, right?

After the book fest, we wanted to get 'Roti Boy' just before we leave. So we were queueing up and paid the cashier for our buns but we have to wait as the buns are still in the oven. So then after the buns are ready, another lady packed the buns for us. She was packing the buns in a hurried manner into the paper bags and there was like 5 buns in one bag when she pushed towards me and asked ' Siapa punya 5? you punya? ' Then, I shooked my head and a customer behind me said '2 saya punya'. The bun lady ask me again, ' 3 you punya?' and I shooked my head again, showing her 2 of my fingers. Another customer from the back said it's hers and so, the lady bun passed the bag with 3 buns to her and packed another 2 buns for me.

I could have taken her 5 or 3 buns as she didn't request to check my receipts also. Instead I took 2. MK shooked her head again with the 'aiyo-you-ar, look' But then again, I would have felt a slight twinge of guilt for cheating. At least, at the end of the day, I'm happily home with MY 2 buns.

Doink I may be, but honesty is the best policy, no ?

Tada, holiday here I come !

Finals are finally over! Done with the first semester. I can now heave a sigh of relief. Phew. The long awaited break is here and there are so much to do but sadly I only have like 13 days of break * appreciate that lots since the last time I had any break was the time I finis STPM ? feels like years ago now. Lol.

Anyways, these are the plannings for my precious 13 days of holiday :

1) Have a good read : Harry Potter 7 and Mitch Albom's books!

2) Get my mp3 fixed. Sigh, I don't know why it's always in sleep mode after some time I never touch it.

3) Finish my animes :
-Bleach! (I'm already at epi 219 =p)
-Emma (season 1 & 2)
-rewatch Ouran High School (if I ever have the time which I doubt. Lol)

4) Get a haircut. Ahh, my hair is getting longer and out of shape! Beh tahan lah. Been so long since I last cut it. I seriously must get it done by this holiday.

5) Book fest! It's my ever first time to a book fest, so kinda excited about it. Books are getting more expensive now, I hope they have more discounts during the book fest. Oh, and I also want to go to the miserable mall in PJ, named The Atria. Vk said that I'm able to get brand new fictions as low as RM8 there!! @.@ Why are all the books sales always at those ulu places. Sigh.

6) Meeting up with my old friends. Oh, I've already started to meet up with some of my friends today. It'll certainly be good to see them back after some time =)

7) Go for a movie! It's been awhile since my last movie. Was it Transformers? Or HP 6?

8) Celebrating Mun Jie Jie's birthday! This'll be a great one, I know ;p

*Alas, hopefully I'll get all of these done by this two weeks of break. Cheers~ I shall now sit back and relax =)

For you, a thousand times over

A smile.
Lopsided.
Hardly there.
But there.
Behind us, kids were scampering, and a melee of screaming kite runners was chasing the loose kite drifting high above the trees. I blinked and the smile was gone. But it has been there. I had seen it.

"Do you want me to run that kite for you?"

His Adam's apple rose and fell as he swallowed. The wind lifted his hair. I thought I saw him nod.

"For you, a thousand times over," I heard myself say.

Then, I turned and ran.
It was only a smile, nothing more. It didn't make everything all right. It didn't make anything all right. Only a smile. A tiny thing. A leaf in the woods, shaking in the wake of a startled bird's flight.

But I'll take it. With open arms. Because when spring comes, it melts the snow one flake at a time, and maybe I just witnessed the first flake melting.

I ran. A grown man running with the swarm of screaming children. But I didn't care. I ran with the wind blowing in my face, and a smile as wide as the Valley of Panjsher on my lips.

I ran.

Of Anugerah Cemerlang and Family Gathering

My finals are semi over by now, (only FA1 left on 18th and I'll revise that a day or two before) and so I'm finally having time to update my blog on VI Anugerah Cemerlang that I attended on 1st August.

Due to my hard-to die bad habit of procrastination, I forgot to iron my formal wear. And I only remembered at around 8 pm the night before, that I need to iron my clothes. At that point of time I was busy doing dunno what ( facebook i suppose ) and I procrastinated again. And later that night, the was a power failure at my neighbourhood. Serves me right. I waited till 12 plus for that electricity to come back although I was already super sleepy. Luckily it did come back or else I would have to opt for the long sleeve formal wear that require no need of ironing.

Met up with Lai at LRT station at around 8 plus. Then we walked to school together with her friend, Si Yi.

VI stage.
Dato' Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin, the Menteri Wilayah Persekutuan came to give out the awards. His name sounds super Siamese, right? But we didn't even bother to listen to his speeches. We were too busy chatting. Negaraku Song was played at the start of the event. It has really been awhile since I last hear that song. Lol. I did sing that day! And I wasn't just merely lip-syncing, mind you.

Xf, Savin and Pak Yung

The woman doing accounts tutorial which is brought back all the way from the land of paddy field! hardworking-nya.

Another woman studying for her ACCA first assessment

Not my chair ?

Oh yes, I changed my name, my gender and race. The chair I'm sitting at is named Surein Raaj A/L Jeeyabalan , a male Indian. I didn't even sit at my own place. I think cuz it was so far away from my friends. Anyway, I don't think anyone of us really sit at our own place. All main duduk only.

Loong Hui and Atika

Rocky! So disrespectful of us of the whole event. Chatting, laughing and even passing around the one box of Rocky which we managed to hide when a man holding a camera came passing by.

Choir. This year's choir has got some extra 'specialities' in them. The second or third song that they sang; (i don't remember) there were hand actions. Hmm I thought you can only have facial expressions but not body gestures in choir?

Future accountants?

The super freaky high heels. But Amanda claims that it's comfy.

Showing off :)

The guys : Savin, Pak Yung, Tung, Loong Hui, Choon Mun

Vi Brass Band performing

Bangga-lah. We actually stayed right up till the event was over. Lol. Actually we were forced to, as they purposely schedule the STPM award right till the end. Oh, and I got some cash after sitting in the super hot hall the whole morning. Wee !

p.s : credits to Atika for all of the pictures above :)

And at night, we had a family gathering as Yew Koh and family is back from Australia ! =) We had steamboat in Summer Restaurant in Sunway. I didn't take much picture as my family reached there quite late and as soon as I got there, I started eating already. Lil Miss Greedy in action! But I managed to snap a few pictures though, here and there.

The ABC ( Australian-Born-Chinese) He's so cute right?

Sim Ku Cheh with baby Daniel

After a night of entertaining, baby Daniel is fast asleep on his Sharon Jie Jie's shoulder despite the noise.

We were too full towards the end of the night so we went up to the rooftop.

You can actually spot Sunway Pyramid from here.

The Imbi Clan :D

Dad with Samuel. He's Daniel's elder brother. He's adorable too right ? And he speaks fluent English at only age 3.

Indeed it has been a busy day. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my weekend. :)
